After a devastating knockout in the main fight of UFC Lincoln on Saturday (25) over James Vick, Justin gaethje wants to renegotiate his contract. In one year with the organization, 'Highlight' won his fifth performance bonus (both “Fight of the Night” and “Performance of the Night” bonuses) in four fights. As a result, he believes he deserves a review of his salary. In an interview with the website “MMAJunkie”, the lightweight stated that he wants to receive the full amount of the scholarship regardless of his result.

In most contracts with fighters, the payment of the salary is divided into an appearance grant and a victory grant.

“(The victory) They should get me a business meeting with the UFC, that's what they should get me. There are four fights already, let's see what happens. I want to face the best. I'm happy with the UFC, I'm not unhappy with them at all, but the way I put everything at stake, I need all my money in cash. That's how it should work for people like me. They should use me as an example: if you want all your money, fight like Justin gaethje,” Justin explained.

In addition to the raise, Gaethje asked Ultimate for a vacation. The lightweight in just over a year had four fights, in addition to being a coach on the reality show The Ultimate Fighter.

“Give me a break. I've never been to Hawaii, I've never been to Jamaica, I've never bought a house. Let me do a few things before they put me back in camp. I've been in camp for the last 12 months straight. I do 12 week camps, that's three months, I've had four fights in the last 13 months, that means I haven't been in camp for maybe a month, and that was when I was filming The Ultimate Fighter, so I wasn't out of camp. I’ve been training for 13 months straight, and I’d like a break,” said Gaethje.

Since his debut in Ultimate, Justin gaethje won Michael Johnson in July 2017 at The Ultimate Fighter: Redemption Finale. Then there were two consecutive knockout defeats to Eddie Alvarez at UFC 218 in December 2017 and to Dustin poirier at UFC Glandale in April 2018. His most recent fight was the knockout over James Vick in August this year at UFC Lincoln.
