Brazilian Kalindra Faria stepped into the octagon this Saturday under pressure to win at UFC Lincoln, an event held this Saturday (25), in the USA. Coming from two defeats in a series, the fighter from São Paulo needed the triumph against Joanne calderwood to remain in the organization. However, she ended up defeated with a submission at the end of the first round.
The fight
Willing to avoid exchanging blows with Calderwood, Kalindra quickly sought the takedown. The Brazilian took the fight to the ground and worked well on top, dominating the position until she was surprised. Calderwood made the climb and landed a tight triangle and tightened the choke in the final minute. The Brazilian still tried to resist, but Joanne attacked Kalindra's arm and forced her to give up at 4:57 of the first round.
“She took the fight to the ground, but I trained a lot in jiu-jitsu and I know that today I'm a much better fighter than before. I'm very happy to have achieved this finish. I would like to fight one more time before the end of the year. She accidentally headbutted my nose, but I think it's okay. I want to stay active and get into the top 5,” said Calderwood after the triumph in the Octagon.
