The rise of Matheus Nicolau in the Ultimate flyweight ranking he suffered his first interruption. The Brazilian, ranked 12th in the division, suffered a tough knockout against Dustin Ortiz (see the video below). The fight was an attraction on the UFC Calgary preliminary card, held this Saturday (28), in Canada.

The result puts a brake on Nicolau's run of three wins since the Minas Gerais native debuted in the UFC in November 2015. On the other hand, Dustin has reached his third win in a series and is already dreaming of reaching the top of the category.
The fight
The fight between Matheus Nicolau and Dustin Ortiz brought two fighters with knockout power, even in the flyweight division (up to 56 kg.). The Brazilian, aware of his rival's firepower, opted for a tactical fight and even started very well. He worked well on his movement, avoiding the American's attacks and hitting Ortiz with speed. The Minas Gerais native combined kicks to the leg, which even knocked the North American down, and quick hand strikes. On the other hand, Dustin wasn't in the fight and couldn't even connect an attack. However, when his attack came in, he brought victory. Ortiz fired a beautiful high kick, Nicolau still managed to defend himself, but he still fell to the ground. The North American took advantage of the moment and with several punches from top to bottom he achieved victory in the first round.

Amanda Nunes' girlfriend wins tight fight
In the second fight of the preliminary card, the North American Nina ansaroff, girlfriend of the Brazilian champion Amanda nunes, put up a tough fight, but managed to defeat the Canadian Randa markos in the unanimous decision of the judges (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).
In the first round, Randa took Nina down and worked on top for a long period to gain an advantage on the judges' scorecards. In the second round, already knowing her rival's plan, Nina kept moving throughout the entire period. She landed some blows, kept the fight standing and left the contest even.
With the dispute evenly balanced, the third round would be responsible for deciding the winner. AND Randa markos dominated the partial until the final seconds, when the Canadian attempted a takedown and ended up falling on the bottom. Nina took advantage of the moment and, following the instructions of Amanda nunes, threw a few elbows on top until the bell sounded.
In the end, the three judges scored the triumph for Nina ansaroff,
