Qualifying for TUF Brazil heats up and well-known names are out of contention

There are only 70 athletes left in the running for a spot on TUF Brazil

After more than 300 athletes were initially selected, there are only 70 fighters left in the running for a spot on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF), the UFC's reality show, in Brazil.

Between anonymous fighters and fighters already known on the national scene, athletes from several states arrived as early as 6am. Ahead, processes such as interviews to screen profiles, signing contracts and weigh-ins, in addition to the practical part: demonstration of ground fighting and standing fighting.

“I didn't have time to look at all the fighters, but from what I talked to Joe and our team, it's been wonderful. He's very excited about what he's seeing,” said UFC president Dana White during a visit to the qualifiers and then added: “Actually, this doesn't surprise me at all, since I've always known and said that Brazil is the biggest source of fighters.”

According to the SUPER FIGHTS, well-known names like Vitor miranda, Edilberto Crocotá, who previously played for the UFC, Sérgio Junior, Zezão Trator, Paulo Bananada, Iliarde Santos and Henrique Mello are out of contention. Already Renato Moicano, Mario Soldado, Marcelo Zulu and Hernani Perpétuo would be selected among the 70 fighters.

In the coming days, those selected will face medical examinations, anti-doping tests and a long interview process. With these results in hand, the program's production team will meet with UFC management and choose the 32 fighters who will start on the program.
