Ultimate dethrones Covington and sets Tyron Woodley vs. Darren Till for the belt at UFC 228

Nothing of Colby covington! The welterweight champion's next fight Tyron woodley will be against English Darren till at UFC 228, an event that takes place on September 28th in Dallas (USA). The expectation for the division would be the unification of the titles between the interim champion, held by Colby, and the linear champion, held by Tyron. However, in a surprising change of plans, the show announced this Tuesday (24) a clash between Woodley and Till. In addition, the organization even dethroned Covington from the position of interim champion.

Ultimate's interest would be to schedule Woodley vs. Covington at UFC 228, but Colby reportedly declined the fight as he had little time to prepare. He claims to have had nose surgery and plans to return to the Octagon only in November. Angry, Ultimate stripped the controversial North American of his interim title and offered the chance to Till, who promptly accepted the fight.

Tyron woodley has a professional record of 18 wins, three defeats and one draw. The 36-year-old American has been dealing with a series of injuries and hasn't fought since UFC 214, in July last year, when he defeated Demian Maia. The clash against Till will be his fourth title defense in the category. In addition to Demian, he defended the reign against Stephen Thompson (on two occasions).

For his part, Till is undefeated in his MMA career. The Englishman, who was married to a Brazilian and lived in Brazil for several years, has a record of 17 wins and one draw. The 'Gorilla', as he is known, won Stephen Thompson in his last fight, in May of this year.
