Rousimar Toquinho is scheduled to face Mike massenzio in the second edition of UFC Rio, on January 14th, and the Brazilian athlete will have additional help for the confrontation. The fighter began monitoring with a sports psychologist, aiming to prevent some recent failures from recurring.

The information was released by Toquinho's manager, Alex Davis, in an interview with “MMA Junkie” radio. For the manager, Rousimar has a simple origin and the help of a professional will be essential for the continuity of his career.

“Rousimar is a very humble person, he comes from a very simple family. His origins in Brazil are difficult for someone in the United States to understand,” said Davis. “He tends to go automatic sometimes, and this is something we are trying to correct”, added the businessman.

Understand Toquinho’s problems:

PUBLICITY:

UFC 111 – March 2010 – Rousimar submits Poland's Tomasz Drwal with a heel hook. But after his opponent gave up, the Brazilian held the twist and Drwal suffered a knee injury. As punishment, Toquinho was suspended by the New Jersey Athletic Commission for 90 days.

UFN 22 – September 2010 – Scheduled to face Nate Marquardt, in the main fight of the event, Toquinho tries to land a footlock, but the American defends the blow. Surprisingly, the Brazilian stops fighting and starts complaining to the referee, claiming that his opponent used Vaseline on his joints. At this moment, Marquardt goes on the attack and knocks out Toquinho.

UFC Rio – August 2011– Acting “at home”, Toquinho started the fight against Dan Miller impressively. After knocking the American down, Rousimar launched a series of punches on the ground. But he stopped hitting and went out to celebrate without the referee stopping the fight. When the duel resumed, the Brazilian was almost knocked out, but still managed to win with a unanimous decision from the judges.

I don't see the need for Toquinho to do this type of follow-up and also in my opinion he didn't have any problems in his fights, the first one he finished correctly, it was the judge's mistake, the submission can only stop when the judge stops and not when the opponent hits!, in the 1nd fight it can actually happen that a fighter puts Vazilina on the joint, especially knowing that the toquinho is a great JiuJitero and in the third fight I even thought he had won the fight, because the opponent was no longer defending himself!
