Daniel Cormier won the heavyweight belt last Saturday (07) and still in the Octagon had the challenge of Brock Lesnar for his first title defense. But the North American, who also holds the light heavyweight title, was even willing to face the Brazilian Mauricio Shogun for the belt up to 93 kg.

In an interview with the podcast “Ariel Helwani's MMA Show”, Cormier commented that, if Lesnar is only released to fight in 2019, due to previous anti-doping tests carried out by the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), he could return to light heavyweight and defend the title against Mauricio Shogun.
“I would fight Shogun (laughs). It is serious. I would fight him first. I respect him, he is a legend and has won back to back. I would fight him and then Brock in March and I would be retired,” said Cormier.
Before a possible title fight, Mauricio Shogun has an appointment scheduled at Ultimate. He stares Anthony Smith in the main fight of UFC Hamburg, on the 22nd. If he wins, the man from Paraná would score his fourth victory in the series and would be one of the main candidates to fight for the light heavyweight title.
