UFC 140: Jones submits Lyoto and Mir breaks Minotauro's arm

Rogério Minotouro achieves the only Brazilian victory in the event

Brazilian fighters are known worldwide for their vast arsenal of submissions. But at UFC 140, an event held this Saturday (10), in Toronto, two of Brazil's greatest athletes were surprised by this specialty.

In a valid fight for the light heavyweight belt, Lyoto Machida had a good first round against Jon Jones, but ended up feeling the American's blows in the second round and was caught with a guillotine choke. As the Bahian karateka didn't give up with the choke in place, Machida ended up standing up, in a powerful scene for the audience watching the fight.

Yes, Rodrigo Minotauro, whose main specialty is jiu-jitsu, started the fight very well against Frank mir. But the North American, after almost being knocked out, managed to recover and hit the Brazilian with a Kimura. Minotauro didn't give up the fight either and ended up breaking his arm with the blow.

But UFC 140 wasn't just about defeat for the Brazilians. The only Brazilian victory of the show came from Rogério Minotouro, brother of Rodrigo Minotauro. The Tupiniquim black belt took no notice of the veteran Tito Ortiz and knocked out the former UFC champion in the first round.

Lyoto starts well, but Jones finishes and defends the belt
Bookmakers placed Jon Jones with a strong favorite in the fight against Lyoto Machida. But willing to surprise the champion, the Brazilian fighter started the first round very well. Using his well-known mobility, Machida rotated well and made it difficult for the American to enter. Furthermore, Lyoto worked with excellent combinations of kicks and punches, in quick attacks.

PUBLICITY:

In the second round, knowing he was at a disadvantage, Jones released his game and attacked the Brazilian, who maintained the same tactic of waiting for the best moment to counterattack. But after a takedown applied by Jon, the champion applied a very hard elbow that opened a huge cut on the Tupiniquim athlete.

After medical attention, Lyoto went on the attack and launched a direct attack, but ended up suffering Jones' response and was trapped in the clinch. Still standing, the champion landed a guillotine choke on the Brazilian, who preferred not to hit and ended up standing up. The referee noticed that Machida was unconscious and ended the fight.

PUBLICITY:

With the triumph, Jones has 15 victories as a professional fighter and makes his second UFC belt defense. In turn, Lyoto, who has 17 triumphs, suffers his third defeat as a professional.

Frank mir finishes Minotauro
Rodrigo Minotauro He waited almost three years to get his rematch against Fran Mir, and started the duel very motivated to make up for the defeat he suffered at UFC 92. Minotauro started the fight by putting pressure on the clinch and landing the best strikes at close range. When the exchange resumed, the Brazilian landed two good blows on Mir, who felt it and went to the ground.

However, the Tupiniquim black belt preferred to try the submission with a hand triangle, instead of punishing with more punches. With that, Frank recovered, defended the choke and landed a tight kimura. Minotauro still tried to defend himself, but his shoulder was dislocated, forcing him to withdraw.

PUBLICITY:

With the triumph, Frank mir, who had already been the first man and knocked out Rodrigo Minotauro, becomes the first man to submit the former Pride champion

Minotouro knocks out Tito Ortiz
Rogério Minotouro he arrived at UFC 140 pressured to win, as he had come from two consecutive defeats and needed the triumph to remain in the organization. But in front of the veteran Tito Ortiz, the Brazilian took no notice of the former champion and in a great performance he knocked out the North American.

Ortiz began taking the initiative in the fight and landing the best strikes at close range. The North American managed to keep Minotouro in the clinch and press him against the cage. But with a powerful punch on the way out, which made Ortiz step back, Rogério began the punishment. After knocking Tito down, Nogueira threw several punches to the waistline and forced the referee to end the fight and declare a technical knockout.

Ebersole beats Claude Patrick
The always exotic Brian Ebersole, who became known for drawing an arrow with his chest hair, had a very even fight against local athlete Claude Patrick. Ebersole started better and took down his opponent, but when he fell to the ground he was almost caught in the guillotine. However, the American managed to recover and work on top. In the second round, it was the Canadian's turn to keep the fight standing and connect most of the blows. In the third and decisive round, the alternation marked the dispute. Brian managed to take the fight to the ground, but was threatened with several submission attempts, with hand triangles and guillotines. At the end of the duel, the side judges gave the victory to Brian Ebersole in a split manner. (29×28, 28×29, 29×28)

Korean zombie runs over Hominick
If the fights on the preliminary card were fast, the pace was maintained in the first fight of the main program. The Canadian Mark hominick fought at home, but the show was Chan sung jung. O "Korean zombie”, as he is known, only needed seven seconds to land a right hand and take his opponent to the ground. And from there, the dispute ended with two more blows.

the minotaur lost because he was clueless, he had won the fight and wanted to make fun of it...he was in the same situation as the monobull and it was only when he hit that the judge would go into the fight but he wanted to think he would end up with a broken arm...it's a shame because he was struggling So much for them, I almost punched myself here on the PC watching the fight!!! I already watch different types and types of sports, but anyone who tells me that this is sports is kidding me, it's a good thing this thing only happens in the early hours of the morning. I even follow it but I've been observing that there are several blows and submissions that need to be changed, because the way some fights are finished we can't say that it's sport but murder. Yesterday Lyoto was almost not hanged or better still killed, imagine his family and his son who were probably watching the despair that came with seeing the boy fall unconscious onto the canvas and the opponent didn't even have the chance to know how his partner was...

Anyone who gets involved in this sport knows the risks they are taking, the same would have happened to Jon Jones if he had given Lioto a chance, when you enter the ring you enter to win but you have to be prepared to lose, Lyoto was proud and didn't want to hit and Jon Jones in turn didn't want to let up so as not to give him a chance.

BEBEDITO CARLOS, I don't know if you practice something, (a fight) but in all cases try to find out, and then you will see that the SPORT in question is much less violent than many other sports we have out there, such as football, look for know how many fighters are seriously injured and how many football players are seriously injured.
There is a whole preparation, a philosophy, and if an athlete is injured in any type of fight, it was just an accident.

BENEDIT, PRACTICE, GET TO KNOW, FALL IN LOVE.

You idiot doesn't compare to football where there are 22 on the field and the fight is only 2, of course in football there will be more injured athletes, stupid idiot, but I think Lyoto could have withdrawn before completely losing his sense, thanks for the animal.

Guys, I think that at the moment there is no one to defeat Jon Jones, the guy is the improved Anderson Silva, lol, I was in a state of shock to see Shogun and Lyoto defeated by him so easily, knowing that they are both monsters, we have to take the Hats off to the guy, I hope Anderson Silva faces him and gets back at him, as for the guy saying it's not a sport, I think he's out of the question, man, I play football, I've seen a lot of injuries, it's normal in all sports, I intend to go back to Practicing self-defense I think is very important, not only for learning but also for teaching as a human being. I don't see any MMA fighter spacing out or killing someone on the streets, they are people who, outside of the ring, are examples. flw guys
