The Brazilian junior gypsy won the heavyweight belt of the UFC by knocking out Cain Velazquez, in November, in the first broadcast on Rede Globo. After the triumph, the Brazilian athlete revealed that he entered the octagon with a knee injury, which he had suffered 10 days before the fight. Cigano still tried to recover with just physiotherapy, but the doctors thought it would be better for the champion to operate on the meniscus in his left knee.
This Wednesday, Cigano underwent the surgical process, but before that he used Twitter to ask for support from his fans and even posted a photo before joining the group.
“Getting ready for my knee surgery, send me good vibes and wish me luck guys! Amen and thank you for your support, it’s good to know that everyone is praying and rooting for me”, wrote Cigano.
Soon after, Cigano's coach, Luiz Carlos Dórea, also used the microblog to say that the surgery was a success. “The surgery was a success, thank God,” said the commander.
