After failing to lose weight on Friday (08) and not competing for the middleweight belt, Yoel romero wants to sue the Illinois State Athletic Commission. According to the athlete's agent, Malki Kawa in an interview with the “MMA Hour” program, the fighter feels wronged and will sue the organization.

“We will sue them. I'll send the paperwork soon. It’s probably coming out this week,” said Kawa.

In his first weigh-in attempt, “Soldier of God” was 400g above his category weight, meaning he would have two more hours to reach 83,9kg. According to the fighter's team, the commission's director, Nancy Illg, reduced the time to just one hour.

The president of the Illinois organization reportedly interrupted the dehydration process, even with doctors' authorization to continue. Thus, Romero was unable to make weight and the fight was not valid for the title.

“The whole plan was to use those two hours. So, all we did from that point on in the weight cut was use those two extra hours we had left”, explained the businessman.

In addition to not having a chance to fight for the middleweight belt at UFC 225, Romero also lost 20% of the value of his purse and did not receive the $50 bonus for the fight of the night.
