Former UFC champion Michael Bisping announces retirement

After 15 years dedicated to MMA, the former UFC middleweight champion, Michael Bisping announced his retirement on Monday night (28). The fighter communicated the decision through his podcast “Believe You Me”.

“Obviously, I played with it for a long time, I could fight again, I couldn’t. And unfortunately it's not a fight I'm announcing. I will announce my official retirement from mixed martial arts,” said the American.

Bisping reported that during a 2013 fight with Vitor belfort, with a kick from the Brazilian there was a retinal detachment in his right eye. In November 2017, in the clash against Kelvin Gastelum, the left eye also had problems. Since then, she started seeing “flashes” in her left eye.

The American fighter was diagnosed with a “vitreous” detachment in his left eye and the detached retina of his right eye is still at risk.
