Rose Namajunas wants to fight Mackenzie Dern to test her jiu-jitsu

Mackenzie dern faced Amanda Cooper on the main card of UFC 224, May 12 in Rio de Janeiro. In his second fight for the UFC, Dern submitted Cooper with a rear naked choke in the first round. Dern's victory was overshadowed by the event's weigh-in, when she failed to make the category weight of 52,1 kg. Mackenzie weighed 55,8 kg, 3,2 kg more.

The UFC strawweight champion, Rose namajunas in an interview with the UFC Unfiltered podcast she stated that she is not impressed with Dern. Namajunas also talked about Mackenzie's difficulty in losing weight.

“That right hand she threw looked like a big girl throwing that punch. That was a heavy, heavy blow, and it was from a heavy girl. And not to say that this isn't her punch and it's not a dangerous punch, but maybe this would have been a little different if she had lost weight or at least made an effort to lose weight,” said the champion.

Namajunas wants to test her jiu jitsu against Dern if she commits to the weight cut. “I thought that, apart from the weight issue, I thought she looked great. I've always wanted to test my jiu-jitsu against [someone with Dern's skill]… that would be amazing. She just needs to get her shit together, and maybe that's on the road," Rose concluded.
