The fighter revealed to the 'MMA Hour' program, last Monday (30), the reason for not giving up the fight. For him, the motivation was the fact that he had never lost a close relative and continuing the preparation routine helped him not lose focus on work.

“My father was diagnosed with cancer on Thanksgiving Day (November 23, 2017). We didn't know what to expect. It all happened very quickly, so I decided to stay in the fight. It was the first big loss I've had in my life, so it's all relatively new to me, honestly. For two weeks I would train in the morning, drive to Maryland [where his father lived], come back to train in the afternoon. Then my father died, and the funeral came. It’s the kind of thing that takes time to overcome,” said Edgar.

Charlie Edgar, Frankie's father, died of esophageal cancer on April 5th.
