Trust is the word that sums up the moment of Kevin Lee. After mastering Edson Barboza at UFC Atlantic City, an event held last Saturday (21), the sixth-ranked lightweight has ambitious plans for his career. He literally wants to jump the queue and compete for the category belt against the Russian Khabib Nurmagomedov.

For Lee, the five athletes ahead of him in the rankings have problems outside the octagon or are not big challenges for Nurmagomedov. For this reason, the North American believes he deserves to be the Russian's first challenger.

“Eddie was too fat to accept a fight less than a month ago (at UFC 223). When you say something like that and do it, your opportunity passes. The guy already had his chance, and he lost, and he lost shamefully. That's how it is. He was very fat not long ago. If he wants to be beaten, he can come. Dustin (Poirier), if the guys want to see it, they will see it, but I don't think it raises so many questions that need to be answered,” said Lee in a conversation with the press, after UFC Atlantic City. Then, the fighter answered why he should face Khabib.

“I think I bring a complete style, and I can generate a lot of questions that people want to see the answers to, especially against people like Khabib. He can't beat me in wrestling, he can't beat me at will, he can't beat me on my feet. So let’s see what the best fight is and what the UFC really wants, because that’s what really matters,” he added.
