The Brazilian Charles of the Bronx's debut in the UFC putting on a show and surprising the event organizers. With two consecutive victories via submission, the Brazilian athlete was chosen to face the best-ranked fighters in the lightweight division. But after three fights without victories, including two defeats, the black belt from São Paulo announced the change of category.

Visibly weaker than his opponents in the lightweight category, Bronx's will debut at featherweight. The announcement was made by Charles' manager, Wade Hampel, in an interview with the North American website MMA Junkie.
“Charles hopes to return to fighting, if possible, before the end of the year,” said Hampel. “We are very excited to see how he can reach featherweight (up to 66 kg)”, added the businessman.
