Cyborg reveals that Valentina Shevchenko will be part of his team for the superfight against Amanda Nunes

Chris Cyborg defeated Yana Kunitskaya last Saturday (03), in the main fight of UFC 222, but just a few days after the triumph she is already thinking about her next commitment: the champions' superfight against Amanda nunes. Cyborg's focus on facing her compatriot is so great that the woman from Paraná has even called for Valentina Shevchenko to help with your preparation. The Kyrgyzstani was Amanda's toughest rival since the Bahian's rise in the bantamweight division. In the 'Leoa's' last title defense, at UFC 215, in September, the Eastern European athlete even won the dispute for one of the judges.

“I contacted Valentina so she could help with my training for the fight against Amanda. She accepted and will be part of my team. She's incredible, she has a lot of fights, a lot of experience and she fought Amanda twice. She spent a lot of time in the octagon with Amanda. I spoke to her, Ray (Elbe, Cyborg's fiancé and manager) is her friend, she said yes, and it's going to be great”, revealed Cyborg, to the North American website MMA Fighting.

Despite the preparation for training for the superfight having already begun, Cris ruled out the possibility of facing Amanda nunes already at UFC Rio, in May. The featherweight champion claimed that she has had a large number of fights in recent months and that she is only expected to return to the Octagon in the second half of this year.

“I had three fights in seven months. Amanda will spend a year between fights, her last fight was in September. She has to defend the belt, and the UFC has the Ketlen Scallop, she won the Zingano cat and deserves the opportunity to fight for the belt. There are girls for Amanda to face and defend her belt. But I'm open to facing it, I keep training. But it will probably be in July, I won't be able to fight in May, I have a lot of things to sort out and I really need this break”, added the Brazilian.

The fight between Chris Cyborg, champion of the featherweight division (up to 65,7 kg.) and Amanda nunes, holder of the belt in the bantamweight category (up to 61,2kg) will, apparently, be the first superfight for champions in the UFC. The challenge came from Amanda, who was ready to move up in weight to face her compatriot. In turn, Cris revealed that she would not like to fight against another athlete from her country, but she did not reject any type of challenge. The superfight was even speculated to take place at UFC 224, on May 12, in Rio de Janeiro, but Cyborg demanded that the duel take place on a big card, at UFC 226, in July, as Amanda is not a big seller of pay-per-view packages in the United States.
