Lorenzo Fertitta visits Brasília and the city is close to having the UFC in 2012

The North American Lorenzo Fertitta, majority shareholder of the UFC, is in Brazil visiting the cities that are interested in hosting the event in 2012. After passing through Recife, on Monday, the director went to Salvador, where he saw the training of Junior Gypsy to face Cain Velazquez, and this Wednesday he arrived in Brasília, where he spoke with local politicians.

Shortly after the meeting, the deputy secretary of the Federal District government council, Cleyton dos Santos, assured that Brasília is “almost certain” to promote an edition of the show.

“We are fully interested in supporting the UFC’s arrival. They had to give us a position in 10 days to close the date and they have a very strong intention of holding the event in the capital of Brazil”, stated the secretary.

“Four months ago they carried out a technical visit and approved the gym. The whole issue of structure has already been resolved. We are the most advanced city in negotiations”, added Cleyton.

If confirmed, the intention of the local authorities is for the event in Brasília to take place on April 21st, the anniversary of the Federal District, at the Nilson Nelson Gymnasium.
