Dana White doesn't usually forgive athletes who fail the scale, but the UFC president made an exception for Yoel romero. After the Cuban was 1,2 kg over the middleweight division limit and lost the chance to fight for the division's interim title, he turned the tide. The top hat was full of praise for the 'Soldier of God', after the knockout against Luke Rockhold, in the early hours of this Sunday (11), in Perth, Australia.

In a statement to FOX Sports in the USA, Dana confirmed that, despite his weight problem, Romero will have the chance to face Robert whittaker, current champion of the category, for the middleweight belt. The fight between Whittaker x Romero will be a rematch. In July last year, the Cuban faced a New Zealander for the interim belt and Robert won by the judges' decision.

Alligator still waits

Dana White's statement frustrates the plans of Ronaldo Jacare. The Brazilian, ranked third in the middleweight division, could have an early chance at the belt if the Cuban wins the fight and is 'punished' by the UFC for failing to balance. But with Romero's resounding triumph, the organization must confirm Yoel with a chance at the title.
