Amanda ribas signed with the UFC in June 2017, but the Brazilian's debut in the octagon is still a long time coming. The fighter, who was caught in an anti-doping test before her debut in the organization, was suspended by the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) for two years. As a result, she will only be able to make her debut in June 2019.
Amanda tested positive for “ostarine”, a substance in the anabolic class and prohibited according to the UFC’s anti-doping policy. According to the official USADA statement, “ostarine” is a 'selective androgen receptor modulator, and is sold illegally in the United States and around the world as a performance-enhancing substance.' Ostarine is not available as a prescription medicine in any country in the world, and its unauthorized use can cause serious side effects.”
Amanda signed with the UFC in June 2017 and was scheduled to debut in the octagon against her compatriot Ju Thai at TUF 25 Finale, in July 2017. However, during a surprise test applied by USADA, the entity identified the violation and suspended the Brazilian temporarily until the trial this Wednesday (10).
