Mark Hunt campaigned for a rematch with Fabricio Werdum, but will have to settle for a duel against Curtis blaydes at UFC 221, an event that will take place in Australia, alongside his native New Zealand, on February 11th. But that didn't stop the heavyweight from harshly criticizing the Brazilian, his former tormentor, again.

In an interview with the Australian newspaper “Daily Telegraph”, which was the first to report the duel between Hunt and Blaydes for the event in Perth, the “Super Samoan” said that the former champion is a “coward”.
"Fabricio Werdum he's a coward. It's a m…, a chicken. I think he reached a level where the UFC needed to force him to face me. Because he can't just sit back and protect his place in the rankings, in the division. That's not how things work. Fabricio needs to get up from his chair and face me or get out of my way. That’s it,” said Hunt.
The New Zealander faced Werdum at UFC 180, in 2014, when he agreed to fight for the interim belt three weeks before the event. At the time, Hunt needed to lose 21 kg to reach the 120 kg heavyweight limit and stated that this, along with the altitude of Mexico City, the location of the event, hindered him. Despite having a good first round, the “Super Samoan” ended up being knocked out by the Brazilian in the second round with a flying knee.
The duel between Hunt and Blaydes is the second to be confirmed for UFC 221. The event will feature the first defense of the UFC middleweight belt. Robert whittaker, who faces the former champion Luke Rockhold in the main fight of the show.
