In the duel of generations in Ultimate, better for the youth. The revelation Brian ortega was not aware of the experienced Cub swanson and submitted the contender for the featherweight belt with a guillotine choke in the second round. The fight was the main attraction of UFC Fresno, an event held in the early hours of this Sunday (10), in California (USA). With the triumph, Ortega reaches his 12th victory and remains undefeated as a professional. On the other hand, the result frustrates the plans of Swanson, number four in the featherweight division ranking, who hoped to have the chance to compete for the category title in case of victory.
“I will respectfully wait Frankie Edgar compete for the title against Max Holloway, so maybe I’ll face the winner next”, said Ortega still in the octagon.

In addition to the duel between Ortega x Swanson, the UFC Fresno fight program featured five Brazilians in action: on the main card, Marlon moraes knocked out aljamain sterling brutally in the first round, while Markus Maluko debuted in the franchise with a defeat against Erik Anders. Already in the preliminary program Davi ramos achieved his first victory in Ultimate by submitting Chris Gruetzemacher with a rear naked choke. Although, Iuri Marajó and Antonio Braga Neto were defeated before Alejandro Perez e Trevin gilesrespectively.
The fight
The main fight at UFC Fresno got off to a hot start. Swanson, with more skill in the stand-up fight, combined good blows against his rival. In turn, despite having less skill in boxing, Ortega took advantage of his rival with greater stature. Even so, Cub connected more punches and made his rival walk backwards. In the final seconds of the first round, Swanson closed the distance, but Ortega took guard with a guillotine choke and almost ended the fight. Cub was saved by the bell.
The second round followed the same path as the previous round: Swanson taking the initiative in the fight and connecting with a greater volume of punches, while Ortega waited for the best moment to counterattack. At a disadvantage in the stand-up fight, Brian attempted a takedown, but was unsuccessful. Even so, the fighter didn't give up and, even standing up, he landed a guillotine choke. The choke was so well placed that Swanson was forced to tap out.
