After the historic UFC Rio, the organization is once again promoting an event on American soil. This Saturday (17), the city of New Orleans will host UFC Fight Night 25. In the main fight of the night, the Americans Jake Shields e Jake ellenberger face each other in a valid fight for the welterweight division.
Hired by the UFC after winning the Strikeforce belt in the welterweight (up to 77kg) and middleweight (up to 84kg) categories, Jake Shields was selected to face the Canadian Georges St Pierre at UFC 129, in April this year, in a fight valid for the title of the 77 kg division. Despite a good performance, Jake was defeated by the judges' decision after a five-round battle. Now, Brazilian Cesar Gracie's pupil, who has a record of 26 wins, five losses and one draw, will try to resume his quest for the belt this Saturday. In turn, Ellenberger has a professional record of 24 wins and five losses and is undefeated in four duels. In his last appearance, the American defeated Sean Pierson, by knockout, at UFC 129.
The UFC Fight Night 25 fight program will only have one Brazilian in action: Wagner Rocha will try to redeem himself from his debut defeat in the UFC and will face the American Cody McKenzie, who is also coming from a setback in the organization.
