A few days after failing a new doping test, the former UFC champion Anderson Silva issued a statement aimed at fans. Despite giving no clues as to what the next steps will be, or whether he will accept the result of the analysis carried out by USADA, the Brazilian assured that he will not retire and that his plans will not change due to the positive test.

In addition to guaranteeing that he will continue fighting, regardless of the length of punishment he may receive from USADA, Anderson thanked the fans for their support and said that “there is nothing more rewarding” than having them by his side.

“Obviously, I think it’s all part of an evolutionary process. With every day that passes, I can learn more about who I am. I'm here to thank all my fans, especially my coaches and everyone who contributed to this long journey. I can't express my feelings and how sad I am because we all invested love, passion and time into this camp. I don't know exactly God's plans for me, but anyway, I can only thank Him and all of you. For love and affection. Nothing is more rewarding at this moment than having you by my side. I won't give up. Nor will I stop doing what I love, not for fame or money, for the love of fighting. So no matter what happens from now on, nothing changes. My plans are the same, nothing changes. A big kiss to everyone and I’ll see you soon,” Anderson said in his statement.

Having already failed an anti-doping test once again, after UFC 183, Spider could face a sentence of up to four years, if it is proven that he acted in bad faith when using a substance banned by USADA. As a result, Anderson would only fight again at the age of 46. The Brazilian had a fight scheduled against Kelvin Gastelum for UFC Shanghai on November 25th, but was removed from the fight to focus on his defense. In his place, the former champion Michael Bisping, recently defeated by Georges St Pierre, will face the promising Gastelum.
