After another controversial episode outside the octagon, Conor McGregor broke the silence about his invasion of the Bellator cage after his teammate and friend Charlie Ward's victory over John Redmond and subsequent fight with the duel's central referee Marc Goddard. Via his Twitter, the UFC lightweight champion maintained his stance, saying he lost his temper when Goddard said the fight wasn't over yet, even with Redmond unconscious.

A few minutes after posting the message, however, the “Notorious” deleted it, but the fighter's followers managed to repost the image of the post on MMA forums around the world.

“The guy is knocked out for a whole minute and the referee comes and says to me: “Conor, the fight is not over yet”. That's when I lost (my mind). F… you all”, challenged McGregor, who was heavily criticized for the invasion and for pushing Goddard, in addition to slapping a flight attendant.

McGregor already has a history with Marc Goddard, dating back to UFC Poland. At the time, the Irishman was forced to leave where he was in the audience, as he was shouting instructions to his teammate Artem Lobov, who was facing André Fili. Goddard stopped the fight momentarily and asked security to remove McGregor from the Octagon, angering the UFC champion.
