It seems like Colby covington is, in fact, prone to entering into a climate of 'war' with the Brazilians. After insulting the country by saying that 'Brazil is a pigsty and that people are a bunch of dirty animals', the North American fighter shrugged off the criticism received by his teammates at American Top Team, a gym located in Florida and which has many Tupiniquim athletes and coaches, including Antonio Shoe Guy, Junior Gypsy, Amanda nunes e Antonio Pezão. The last two even publicly cursed Colby, who said he didn't care about the criticism.

“I don’t care Amanda nunes, nor for Pezão. They are not my friends, they have never been my friends and they will never be my friends. It's not a team, I'm not part of a team. We're not on a scoring system like in basketball or football, where it's one team. This is an individual sport. I represent American Top Team, but I don’t represent any other fighter at the gym”, he declared in an interview with the program “MMA Junkie Radio”.

Although he stated that he did not care about the opinions of Brazilians, Covington guaranteed to defend the colors of ATT. According to the athlete, it is not necessary to get along well with all the fighters at the gym, just with your training partners.

“I'm ATT to the bone. I have my closed circle of people, my pot. Jorge masvidal, Mike Brown, Dan Lambert. I'm not everyone's friend. It's a gym, but this is an individual sport. You don't need a big group. People will always try to use you and do bad things. They will always have pans. Everywhere you go there will be people gravitating towards each other. We have different people from different countries, so everyone has their own side. You just see people taking their sides of what happened with my incident in Brazil last weekend,” he concluded.
