“We will take Colby's situation very seriously. This is already being reviewed along with our code of conduct. It's not something that makes us happy. The North American even said that he 'hates Brazil' and that he would retire Demian Maia. After the victory over the São Paulo fighter, the fighter called the Brazilian fans 'a bunch of dirty animals'. The audience in the gym was angry and threw several objects at his rival as he left the Octagon.

On Sunday afternoon (29), Covington once again caused controversy when, after the entire incident, he apologized to 'dirty animals' for comparing them to Brazilians.
