Afters dethrone José Aldo in the middle of Rio de Janeiro, the Hawaiian Max Holloway He got a date, place and opponent to make his first featherweight title defense. He faces the veteran Frankie Edgar in the main fight of UFC 218, scheduled for December 2nd, in Detroit, United States. The duel was confirmed by Ultimate.

Before knocking out Aldo at UFC 212, Holloway had won the division's interim title by beating Anthony Pettis by technical knockout at UFC 206, last December. At just 25 years old, the champion is on an incredible streak of 11 consecutive victories, having last lost in 2013, to Conor McGregor. Former UFC lightweight champion, Edgar, 35 years old, is coming off victories over Jeremy Stephens, in November 2016, and Yair Rodriguez, in May this year. He has already challenged for the featherweight belt on two occasions against José Aldo, but was overcome by unanimous decision in both. In Ultimate since 2007, he has 16 triumphs, five setbacks and one draw.
In addition to Holloway x Edgar, other clashes that could define the future of their respective divisions are also confirmed for the UFC 218 card. Heavyweights Alistair Overeem and Francis Ngannou face off for the position of next challenger to the Stipe Miocic, a situation similar to that of flies Henry Cejudo and Sergio Pettis, who face each other for a title shot.
