Bisping recalls training with St. Pierre: 'He's a fraud'

Less than two months before UFC 217, the Englishman Michael Bisping continues with the routine of provocations towards Georges St Pierre, his opponent in the main fight of the event, which takes place in New York on November 4th. This time, the middleweight champion criticized his rival for thinking he could beat him, remembering when they trained.

According to Bisping, GSP only agreed to face him because the two trained together “a long time ago”, when the Canadian got the better of him. The Englishman guarantees, however, that he has evolved a lot since then and was dismissive of the former champion.

“We trained together a long, long time ago and he beat me. I didn't know how to do a damn double leg (type of takedown). So he thinks he can beat me. He didn't want to fight with the Anderson Silva, when he was the champion. He didn't want to fight with the Luke Rockhold, when he was the champion. So he sees me as an easy choice. That's why he's so focused on me. And for all this talk, I say Georges is a fake. And Canada, who sees him as their champion. The Canadian champion is a damn fake,” said Bisping, in an interview with the North American program The MMA Hour, reiterating that GSP made a mistake upon returning from retirement.

“If you want to leave a true legacy, you need to win the belt, defend it a few times and retire as a champion. There's nothing better than that. That's why I'm saying Georges should have done it. He made a mistake. He was swept away by the spotlight. Of course money is good, everyone wants to make money, so I'm sure that's why he's coming back, but it doesn't matter,” he concluded.
