Brazil finished UFC Fight Night Pittsburgh, an event held this Saturday night (16), in the United States, with a balance of 50%, one victory and one defeat. The triumph literally came at the hands of Gilbert Durinho. The black belt managed to recover on the show and scored his first knockout in the octagon by beating Jason Saggo in the second round. Already Serginho Moraes was no match for the firepower of the Nigerian Kamaru Usman and saw his series of seven fights without defeat end when he lost, also by knockout, in the first round.

Serginho Moraes had a tough mission ahead of him at UFC Pittsburgh. Before Kamaru Usman, the Brazilian was unable to avoid his rival's standing fight and ended up being knocked out in the first round. The expectation of the fight would be a duel of styles. The Nigerian is looking for a stand-up fight, while the black belt from São Paulo should look for a fight on the ground. However, Serginho accepted the exchange of blows with Usman and ended up not meeting.

In the first few moves, Usman accepted a right bomb and knocked the Brazilian off balance. Serginho even called his rival to the ground, but the Nigerian turned his back and asked Moraes to get up.

After the scare at the beginning, Serginho started to find himself. Even without a disadvantage when fighting on the feet, the black belt managed to land some counterattacks. However, the punishment came quickly. Usman connected with a straight right and Serginho was already knocked out.

After the triumph, the 'Nigerian Nightmare' challenged another Brazilian: Rafael dos Anjos.

“Anyone in the welterweight division knows they don’t want to fight me because they know I’m the best. I've done everything, I've seen everything, so they can say I'm a problem. There's a guy arriving now and he wants to jump the line? Rafael dos Anjos, open your eyes. I’ll face you whenever you want,” said Usman, who had his sixth consecutive UFC appearance.

Durinho wins by knockout

Black belt and multiple world champion in jiu-jitsu, Gilbert Durinho showed progress in stand-up fighting. On the UFC Fight Night Pittsburgh preliminary card, the black belt scored the first knockout of his career in the Octagon by dispatching Jason Saggo in the second round.

With a lot of movement, Durinho surprised his rival and connected good counterattacks in the first round. The Brazilian still used good combinations to shorten and seek the takedown, but Saggo managed to avoid it. The Canadian still had a good moment at the end of the session when he landed a good left blow and knocked the Brazilian off balance. However, Jason respected Durinho's jiu-jitsu and stayed on his feet. In the end, Gilbert still managed a takedown and got to the back, but with no time for the submission.

In the second round, Saggo tried to become more active in the stand-up fight, while Durinho tried to take the duel to the ground. After getting a few scares, the Brazilian managed to take down his rival and quickly get to his back. The Canadian still managed to get up, but was caught soon after: Durinho landed a right cross that sent his opponent straight to the ground, already unconscious.

PUBLICITY:

“Thank you to my coaches, who helped me a lot, to my teammates. Thank you all. They always tell me to believe in my hand, they warned me that the right hook was very hard and I was trying not to show my emotions. I’m back”, celebrated Durinho.
