St. Pierre says he will retire again if he loses to Bisping

Georges St Pierre is scheduled to return after four years away from MMA for UFC 217, in November, when he faces Michael Bisping for the middleweight title held by the Englishman. However, if it depends on “The Count”, GSP’s return could be short. This is because the Canadian himself revealed that he will retire again if he loses his fight to Bisping.

In an interview with the North American newspaper “New York Post”, the former UFC welterweight champion revealed that his next defeat will mean the definitive end of his career, even if he beats Bisping and then loses. However, he adds that he does not intend to leave UFC 217 without the middleweight belt.

“If I lose, I retire, it’s over for me. I'm a fight away from retirement. I don't intend to lose, but if that happens, it's over”, revealed GSP, saying that his first retirement was also a way of fighting in favor of stricter rules on anti-doping control.

“Nowadays the rules are different, before I was fighting against a whole system. I was criticized a lot for my stance against drugs, people joked, 'he's a paranoid guy, he's saying that to find a way to retire'. But look what’s happening now… Several UFC champions are being caught for using performance-enhancing substances,” he concluded.
