Bisping says Jones should be banned from MMA: 'There's no place for drugs in the sport'

Although he recognizes Jones' career achievements, Bisping believes that the fighter should be banned due to doping cases

Michael Bisping He is known for being quite acidic in his responses, no matter who it hurts. When commenting on the controversial new doping case involving Jon Jones, the current middleweight champion’s stance was no different. Showing irritation with the situation, the Englishman didn't think twice to say that 'Bones' should be banned from MMA, remembering that the athlete has a vast history of controversies with doping and confusion outside the octagon.

“I believe so (about Jones being banned). If you have a history of taking performance-enhancing drugs, you have no room for this. It's an addictive sport. It's not for everyone. We're not trying to put a ball in a basket, we're trying to finish off our opponents, whether by submission or by knocking them out. Performance-enhancing drugs have no place in this sport. (…) Outside the octagon, he made very bad decisions. I think he's facing a four-year suspension. And it's fair to say that it doesn't have smoke without fire. It's not his first time. So, I think, we'll see how things unfold, but it doesn't look good”, declared the Englishman, in an interview with the program 'SI Now'.

Although he has numerous problems in his personal life, Jones is seen by everyone as one of the best fighters of all time. Bisping even made a point of praising the American's career achievements, but highlighted that the legacy built will be tarnished forever.

“I think he definitely tarnished his legacy. He will always be remembered for the incredible performances he delivered. When he entered the UFC, he was unbelievable, absolutely invincible,” he concluded.
