Defeated by Jeremy Stephens In the first fight of the UFC 215 main card, held last Saturday (09), in Edmonton (CAN), Gilbert Melendez suffered a lot from the low kicks fired by his rival. During the 15 minutes of the fight, the former Strikeforce lightweight champion was severely punished by his opponent, who attacked his left leg heavily.

This Monday (11), Keri Melendez, the fighter's wife, released an image that shows what the fighter's leg looked like after the fight. Although the image shows the member being very swollen and purple, she guarantees that her husband did not suffer any major damage.
"Hey guys. Everyone is asking about Gilbert's leg. Here is today's photo. He's doing well. Thank you everyone for the support. We feel the love,” Melendez’s wife wrote.
Former lightweight champion of the defunct Strikeforce, Gilbert Melendez, who now works in the featherweight division, has not yet performed as expected in the UFC. Although he has already challenged for the belt on two occasions – he lost on points to Ben henderson and was completed by Anthony Pettis -, his record is terrible in the organization: in six fights, only one victory, against Diego SanchezIn 2013.
