The light heavyweight Fabio Maldonado He found survival in his career and has now become world champion. After leaving the UFC, the Brazilian was invited to join the cast of Fight Nights Global, a Russian event. And, this Monday (4), he overcame the previously undefeated Kurban Omarov by submission. It was the third time that the “Brazilian Rocky Balboa” submitted an opponent, the first since 2010.

After two rounds of greater dominance from Omarov, who came to mount the Brazilian in the first round, in addition to having extensive positional control on the ground, Maldonado tired his opponent and was the aggressor in the third round, managing to stop his opponent's takedown attempts. In one of them, the Brazilian wrapped Omarov's neck and worked a chokehold, managing to land a guillotine choke from half guard.
At the same event, the Brazilian Diego Brandao took part in the main fight and ended up defeated after jumping out of the cage and abandoning the fight after repeated fouls from Akhmat Aliev, his opponent. The Russian was headbutting the lightweight, former UFC fighter, and was pedaled. When Brandão complained to the referee, the crowd started throwing bottles at the cage. Rousimar Toquinho he was also defeated, in a controversial result, by Shamil Avirov.
