“Let's wait and see what the counter-evidence says. It must prove the truth, it's a shame for the sport, I'm sorry for “DC” (Daniel Cormier), who lost the belt to him and all his fans. It's sad for me if it's true. If there was anyone I was looking forward to facing, it was him. The rematch was everything I wanted. I'm surprised? No, nothing that comes from him surprises me anymore. I don't want to judge him yet, not until I know everything. If it's true, it would be better for him to leave the sport”, declared the fighter, in an interview with the website “MMABetz.se”, translated by “Bloodyelbow”.

Gustafsson and Jones faced each other at UFC 165, in September 2013, for the light heavyweight belt (under 93kg). On that occasion, the Swede was defeated by unanimous decision after five hard-fought rounds, to the point where many noted victory for 'The Mauler'.

At 30 years old, Gustafsson is coming off two consecutive victories, the most recent in May this year, when he knocked out Glover Teixeira at UFC Sweden. In Ultimate since 2009, he has won and four defeats at home, having challenged for the light heavyweight title on two occasions, being defeated on both occasions.
