After another defeat, Cormier seeks third fight against Jones

Just over two weeks after the second defeat to the arch-rival Jon Jones, the former UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier reappeared and, in an interview with The MMA Hour, assured that he will have a third chance to beat his main enemy. Despite recognizing that a trilogy is difficult when one of the athletes won the first two duels, DC declared that the rivalry he has with Jones could help him.

UFC 214 received close to 900 pay-per-view purchases, a number considered both high and surprising. Which leads us to believe that fans like the rivalry between Jones and Cormier. And the former champion intends to exploit this bias to have a third chance against the only man who defeated him in the Octagon.

“I don’t intend to stop fighting. I love competing more than anything. That's what motivates me. If I'm not competing or involved in competition, I feel bad. I love this environment. Not only will I fight again, but I really believe that I will face Jon Jones again. Of course I still have the desire to fight, to test myself. I know he and I will compete again before this is all over,” commented Cormier, who admitted he doesn't know what kind of fights he has to do to get another chance against Jones.

“I don’t know exactly which path will take me back to Jon Jones. But I think that when I get close to a title shot again, he will be the champion. No one can beat him at 93 lbs., and no one can beat me, so it's just a matter of winning enough fights to get there. Plus, Jones and I make money together, so that would help the UFC make this fight again. The appeal of rivalry exists”, he added.
