Without fighting since September 2016, the featherweight Geoffrey Pepey is preparing to return to the octagon next Saturday (22), in Long Island (USA), when he faces the undefeated Shane burgos. With four victories in the last five fights, the Ceará native wants to maintain his good momentum and, consequently, put the first stain on his rival's record, who has won all the new fights he has had as an MMA professional.

“Him being undefeated doesn’t mean much to me, because I did my part. I've faced several guys who were undefeated and they lost their undefeated record against me. That doesn't mean it's a big deal, it just means we're going to fight, we're going to put on a show for the public. He's undefeated because he hasn't caught a fighter like me, who is there to win, who gives himself to the fight. I will be ready, prepared in any area. He will certainly arrive undefeated and will lose his unbeaten record. I'm well prepared, ready for a war. I'm sure I'll emerge victorious, with my hands raised”, declared the fighter, in an interview with the website 'Combate.com'.

To leave with your arm raised, Pepey bet on the versatility of your game. Confident, the Thai Evolution athlete guarantees he is ready to surprise Burgos even with a lightning victory.

"Shane burgos He's a tough opponent, he's tall for the category, he uses his wingspan a lot and traditional kickboxing, the best weapon he has. But I'm training hard, with a lot of sparring partners at his weight, his height, the way he fights, nothing he does will be new to me, I'm “on my feet”. My strategy is to always be unpredictable. I train in all areas, I have a very strong team, which is giving me full support. My strategy is to be unpredictable. There could be a lightning knockout or a submission. The music that plays, I will dance. I will definitely surprise the audience. I’m very calm and very confident for this fight”, said Godofredo.

Even though he didn't even get through his next challenge, Pepey is already making plans for its next steps. With eight of his nine UFC fights taking place in Brazil, the TUF Brasil 1 finalist does not hide his desire to return to perform on Brazilian soil, preferably at the next event that will take place in the country: the UFC Sao Paulo, October 28th.

“After this victory, a top 15 could come, it will be a great opportunity for me to show my work, I'm dying to fight five rounds, do a main event and show my potential. In these last five fights, there were four victories and one setback, a setback because I didn't listen to my head coach, but mistakes work like that, sometimes we take one step back to take two steps forward. I'm prepared, I'm ready for whoever comes, and I'm ready for a top 15 in my category. I'm crazy to fight, crazy to fight in UFC Sao Paulo also, right after New York. My audience, my fans are asking me, they are demanding me, they want me to represent the country, and it will be a huge satisfaction”, she concluded.
