Ultimate gained a new headache with the women's featherweight category. The organization, which withdrew the title of Germain de Randamie because she refuses to face Chris Cyborg, had scheduled the Brazilian's fight against Megan anderson for the belt at UFC 214, July 29th. However, with just over a month to go before the duel, the American cited personal problems to leave the contest. The show managed to act quickly and called out Tonya Evinger to face Cyborg.

“I've wanted this fight for a long time and would finally have the opportunity to showcase my skills on the big stage, but unfortunately, due to some personal reasons that are out of my control, it wasn't meant to be now. I'm used to fighting and this will be the biggest fight I've faced so far. As I always do, I will come back stronger and better than before and I will go straight back to Cris, the title and becoming the face of the UFC featherweight division. I'm determined to make history and I want to shock the world. I’m going after whoever has the belt,” said Anderson.

Cyborg's New Rival

At 36 years old, Evinger is a veteran of the sport. With 25 professional fights, the North American has a record of 19 wins, five losses and one No Contest. She has been undefeated since 2011 and has accumulated 10 victories in this period. In an interview with the UFC website, Cyborg's new opponent celebrated the opportunity.

PUBLICITY:

“That's something I thought about doing (moving up to the featherweight division) to have more competition. I already said I would move down to flyweight, but the opportunity was to move up to featherweight, so I'm ready to defeat some featherweights,” declared Tonya.
