Contrary to what had been speculated, the middleweight Gegard Mousasi has not yet renewed with the UFC. The Armenian had the last fight of his old contract against Chris Weidman at UFC 210 and, after the victory, everything indicated that he would renew his relationship with Ultimate. Recently, however, “Dreamcatcher” said he did not like the offer made by the organization.

“We want to sign with the UFC again, renew. I know the UFC also wants to renew me, but I don't know what's going on. They need to pay more. I'm always in the main event fights, so it's not like nobody knows me. The offer they made was not good. We don’t like it”, commented the athlete in an interview with the program “UFC Tonight”, on the North American broadcaster Fox Sports.
When asked about the athletes' retreat that Ultimate organized last weekend, Mousasi praised the initiative but was dismissive of its importance in general.
“It was cool, but here comes Kobe Bryant (former basketball player) and talks about investing 100 million dollars and you have fighters sitting there who make 10 thousand (salary for fighting) plus ten thousand (in case of victory). So, that didn't make much sense. But besides that, it was nice and they treated us very well”, concluded the controversial Armenian.
