“I received the news and I was quite upset. I had been training to face Taisumov for two and a half months. I thought the fight would fall through, that they wouldn't find an opponent because there were less than ten days until the fight. I kept thinking a thousand things, I reorganized my mind at home, I trained, I stayed focused... I really wanted the fight against Taisumov, because he's a guy with a name, with expression, he has an entire country behind him. The Russian fans are very strong and it would be a good fight for me to promote myself, that's why I wanted this fight so much”, declared BJJ, in an interview with the website 'Combate.com'.

Despite having “BJJ” (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu) in his nickname, the native of Goiás has more victories by knockout than by submission in his career. According to him, versatility and range of options will be essential to emerge victorious against Madadi.

“Reza Madadi has a provocative style, which makes him promote himself there, he has an image at the event. He is a wrestler who likes striking, but he is not a natural striker. I'll use the same strategy as I would for Taisumov: keep the fight standing and I can surprise with a takedown or aerial blow. I'm calm, he's based in Sweden, but that doesn't affect the issue of favoritism. At Evolution Thai it's a box of surprises and, when we have the chance, we show the world the real name of the gym. You just have to have the opportunity. If she comes, I'll open up the game, unleash the game and show what we've always trained there. I really like jiu-jitsu, but I trained a lot in Muay Thai at the beginning of my career, and I ended up really liking striking”, he concluded.

Netto won the two fights he had in the UFC. His debut was in September 2015, with a points victory over the Argentine Nazareno Malegarie. The second fight was in June last year, when he needed just 34 seconds to knock out Andrew Holbrook. At 28 years old, the TUF Brasil 4 participant has a 100% success record, with nine victories.
