Shortly after the official rematch between the champion Amanda nunes and the challenger Valentina Shevchenko, for UFC 213, on July 8th, the new approach between the two had it all. Teasing and even a light “punch” given by the Brazilian to the face of the athlete from Kyrgyzstan, a naturalized Peruvian. The two were removed by UFC matchmaker Sean Shelby, who appeared to not have liked the Bahian woman's attitude.

After the incident, Amanda herself took to social media to explain that Shevchenko had touched her face first. From the angle the two were at, no one could see the Peruvian's right fist, so, Nunes explained, it looked like she acted first. In an interview with the Combate channel website, the Brazilian spoke more about what happened.

“She touched me first, that was the reason. If she hadn't done anything, that would have been fine, but she started it. So, it came from her, I can't do anything. It was a reaction. When you're there, hotheaded and all, no one touches you. So, she touched me first and I reacted that way. There was no reason for her to do that and I don't respect her for that attitude. I think so (it's getting personal). I don’t know if she doesn’t like me, but we’ll see”, declared the bantamweight champion, who suspects that her next opponent is trying to provoke her.

“Just as I controlled myself against the Ronda Rousey, I'm going to do the same thing. She's trying to tease me more, for sure. You have to find something to be able to talk about, because she has nothing. So, she can talk until the day of the fight, when I will shut Valentina up inside the cage”, assured Amanda, who already beat Shevchenko at the beginning of last year, by decision.
