Edson Barboza reveals meeting with UFC to ask for title fight

Edson Barboza decided to get ahead of the other lightweights and go personally to meet the UFC bosses and ask for a fight for the title, be it interim or permanent. The Brazilian revealed that he requested a meeting with Dana White (president) and Sean Shelby (matchmaker) to let them know that he is ready to fight for the belt and guaranteed that he will face Khabib Nurmagomedov or have a rematch with Tony Ferguson to achieve your objective.

“I went to Las Vegas with my manager to meet with the UFC and see where we are and what I need to do to get my shot at the title. We went there to talk to them and see what my next steps are in the organization. I spoke to Dana White and Sean Shelby and they don't know what's going to happen either. There is a possibility that I will fight directly for the belt, or have one more fight. They don't know yet what they're going to do with Tony Ferguson e Khabib Nurmagomedov. I’m ready to fight any of them”, commented Barboza to the North American website “MMA Fighting”.

Despite being recovering from an injury to his left shoulder, Barboza assured that, if the UFC offers him a title fight, he will take action by “tomorrow”. Against Khabib or Ferguson, the belt doesn't even need to be at stake, such is the Brazilian's desire to face one of the two athletes.

“That's what I'm here for, to fight for the title. But it doesn't even have to be for a belt if it's against one of these two. I'll fight them now if they want. But if it’s for the interim title, even better,” he concluded.
