Last week, a message from the UFC to the international press announced that the company was adding women's flyweight to its divisions. Hours later, President Dana White denied his own employees, guaranteeing, however, that it was a good possibility. And, this Wednesday (10), what everyone already knew was finally made official: the category up to 57 kg. will be opened by Ultimate to women. The information is from the website of the North American broadcaster “ESPN”, but has already been confirmed by the company.

“Women’s fights have become very popular. I've been wanting to do this for a while now (debut a new division) and I think I'm now ready to pull the trigger on this new division. I’m ready,” UFC president Dana White commented to the publication.

To crown the first champion of the new division, the UFC will repeat the format of The Ultimate Fighter 20. On that occasion, when it opened the strawweight division, the company gave the title to the champion of the season, Carla esparza. In TUF 26, which begins recording in the second half of the year, the competition will be between flyweights and the fighter who wins the reality show will also become the owner of the division's linear belt.

Like many athletes, both bantamweight and strawweight, they originally fight at 57 kg. (cases of Joanne calderwood, Valentina Shevchenko, among others), the UFC will open places on the reality show for fighters who already have a contract in force with the organization and not just with outside athletes, as normally occurs in The Ultimate Fighter.
