Known for his 'hungry' style, always staying active and fighting frequently, Donald Cerrone He last fought in January, and will only return to the Octagon on July 8, when he will face Robbie Lawler at UFC 213. The six months without acting, however, was not due to the fighter himself, but rather that of Dana White, president of Ultimate.

“I would have fought sooner, but Dana White put me on vacation for a while. After the loss to Masvidal, he came to me and said I was going to take a break. I asked if I could call to ask for a fight, and he was very direct: “No!”, revealed Cerrone, in an interview with the “Five Rounds” podcast (USA).

Before the defeat to Masvidal, the 'Cowboy' had four consecutive victories, all via the fast track. However, he admits that the setback seems to have come at a good time.

“To have won at home would have been sensational, but I think sometimes you need to take a beating. The doctor tried to see if I was okay during the break – he told me to take three passes or he would stop the fight – and I don't remember any of that. So there's nothing I can do. That's it. The problem is that there is nothing more exciting than fighting. It’s the biggest rollercoaster of emotions there is, and I even get paid a lot of money to do it,” he concluded.
