UFC president Dana White denied the announcement, made by Ultimate himself, that the 26th season of the reality show “The Ultimate Fighter” will give the winner the organization's inaugural flyweight title. The manager assured that this is one of the options, but that the announcement of the season format was an internal error made by his employees.

In contact with the North American website “Yahoo”, Dana White himself said that the UFC press office sent the news to international journalists by mistake. White assured that nothing has been finalized so that the 26th season of TUF will only have female fighters fighting for the flyweight title. The UFC president did not speak about the opening of a new category.

Two weeks before Ultimate's “false” announcement, Dana White himself had said that the UFC would not open a new weight division for women in the “near future”. The arrival of flyweight, up to 57 kg, has been much requested by fighters who are too big to fight at strawweight (52 kg) or too small for bantamweight (61 kg). The next TUF will start recording in July and should air in September on North American TV and, probably, on Combate.
