Anthony Pettis returns to lightweight against Jim Miller at UFC 213

After failing to make a weight cut at featherweight, former "Showtime" champion returns to the category where he reigned

The former lightweight champion officially ended his featherweight adventure with his first defeat by knockout, suffered by Max Holloway, at UFC 206, in a fight valid for the interim 66 kg belt. Now, “Showtime” returns to the division it dominated a few years ago and faces Jim Miller, at UFC 213, which takes place on July 8, in Las Vegas. The information is from the Combate channel website.

Before the setback to Holloway, Pettis had debuted with a submission victory against Charles Oliveira at featherweight. The North American decided to drop to lightweight after three consecutive defeats, to Rafael Dos Anjos (when he lost the title), Eddie Alvarez and Edson Barboza. In his second fight at 66 kg, however, “Showtime” was unable to make weight and was defeated by the Hawaiian, who won the interim title and faces José Aldo at UFC 212 for unification.

UFC veteran, Jim Miller had his resurgence interrupted at UFC 208, when he lost to Dustin poirier by decision, in the duel that received the Fight of the Night bonus. Before the setback to “Diamond”, the lightweight had won three consecutive victories, over Takanori Gomi, Joe lauzon and against the Brazilian Thiago Alves, in a catchweight fight, as the “Pitbull” was far from reaching the lightweight limit.

UFC 213 does not yet have a main fight announced, despite the bantamweight title duel between the champion cody garbrandt and the challenger TJ Dillashaw has already been confirmed. The former heavyweight champion will also face each other at the event. Fabricio Werdum and the Dutch alistair overeem, in addition to the welterweights Robbie Lawler e Donald Cerrone.
