the russian Khabib Nurmagomedov was forced to withdraw from UFC 209, on the eve of the event, which took place on March 4th. After problems with weight cutting, the athlete was taken to a hospital by his team and ended up making his participation in the fight against Tony Ferguson, which would define the interim lightweight champion.

Despite the UFC's criticism of his team, Khabib assured that the fault for not making the agreed weight and feeling ill was entirely his and not that of his nutritionist or his manager, the main targets of the fury of Ultimate's president, Dana White. He also revealed that he doesn't remember what happened the night he fell ill.

“I think this was all my fault. I know my body doesn't listen to me and I know it was my fault. How can I say it was the trainer's fault or the diet guy's fault? This is 100% my fault. To be honest, I don't remember much. I felt unwell the night before the weigh-in and went to the hospital. I know a lot of fans are disappointed in me and I agree with them. Because this is one of the biggest fights in Russian MMA today (…). But sometimes these things happen, sometimes you die, who knows. Everyone can die, everyone can get sick,” Nurmagomedov commented to the RT Sports website, saying that he intends to return to fight in September.

“Now, I need a few months, something around two or three months. After three months I’m training hard again and I want to fight in September,” she revealed.
