It is increasingly common to see fighters hurling insults and provocations at their opponents, many in an attempt to promote confrontations. For Gian Villante, however, the rule does not work. About to face Mauritius Shogun at UFC Fortaleza, which will be held this Saturday (11), the light heavyweight fighter preached respect to his opponent and praised the Brazilian's career, elevating him to the position of biggest name in the under-93kg category, ahead of even Jon Jones e Daniel Cormier, current weight champion.

“Shogun is always Shogun. He is a warrior no matter how the fight goes, like when he fought with Dan Henderson. So, I have to guarantee a good performance, like the Dan Henderson did it a few times. Shogun is probably the biggest name in the division. Perhaps, with Jon Jones close. I don't think the Daniel Cormier Be a legend like Shogun. I know he's the champion, but Shogun is a legend. So, it’s going to be a party inside,” said Villante, at a press conference.

Despite the respect shown to the Curitiba native, Villante highlighted that he is confident for the duel. According to him, Shogun's game matches his, and victory next Saturday will not escape his hands.

“I was really excited to be able to fight Shogun, especially in Brazil. He's a legend, but he has a style of play that is perfect for me. He might punch me in the face a few times, but I know I'll come out with the victory. It's going to be a really fun fight, he was one of the best for a long time, I watched his fights in the UFC, so it's an honor to fight with him. I can guarantee it will be a good fight”, concluded the fighter.
