The witch of injuries didn't even forgive Christmas Eve. In the early hours of this Sunday (25), the heavyweight Cain Velazquez was removed from the duel against the Brazilian Fabricio Werdum at UFC 207. The North American's departure from the card, as his license to fight was revoked, comes just six days before the show, which will take place on the 30th.
As a result, Werdum was also removed from the card and the UFC 207 fight program will only have 10 fights.
The reason
Velasquez was removed from the duel against Werdum after having his license to fight revoked by the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC), the entity that sanctions the show. NAC vetoed the fighter's participation after he revealed that he could not stand for more than 10 minutes without feeling back pain. The organization requested new tests and after analyzing the results, vetoed the duel due to the risk to the fighter's physical integrity.

“Based on medical records, interviews and the best judgment of Director Anthony Marnell, Attorney General J. Brin Gibson and our physicians, in an effort to protect the health and safety of the athletes, it was determined that Cain Velazquez he is not qualified to fight”, said the NAC communication.
More cancellations
This is not the first time that the fight between Velasquez and Werdum has been cancelled. In 2014, Velasquez, champion of the category at that time, suffered an injury and was replaced by Mark Hunt. Werdum won and won the interim heavyweight belt.
The title unification took place at UFC 188, in June 2015, in Mexico City. The Brazilian submitted his rival and became the only heavyweight champion.
Afterwards, Ultimate scheduled an immediate rematch for February this year, at UFC 196. However, the North American was injured again and, once again, the fight was cancelled.
