Conor McGregor turned down film role for rematch against Nate Diaz

the irish Conor McGregor had to turn down a role in Hollywood to focus on his rematch with Nate diaz. The first meeting between the two ended in victory for the North American, but the second fight was won by the now UFC lightweight champion.

Actor and producer Vin Diesel revealed that he had created a character especially for “Notorious” in the new film in the “xXx” franchise. But Conor decided to cancel his participation to focus on training for UFC 202.

“I wanted a British accent in the film and created a character for Conor McGregor. But after he lost to Nate diaz, went to a dark place in his mind, he needed to gain his masculinity back, so he couldn’t participate in the film”, commented Vin Diesel on the program “Giro Combate” on the Combate channel.

The role that was Conor McGregor ended up going to Michael Bisping, also a UFC fighter. At the end of filming, the Englishman received an invitation to replace Chris Weidman and face Luke Rockhold for the title at UFC 199. Bisping surprised and became world champion by knocking out the North American in the first round.
