The next step of Khabib Nurmagomedov appears to be close to being defined. Number one in the lightweight rankings, the Russian posted an image on his social media showing him with a signed contract, theoretically that of his next fight.
However, Khabib did not reveal who his opponent would be or the date of the confrontation. “ “Fight accepted, contract signed. Waiting for my opponent. Announcement coming soon”, he wrote in the caption of the photo.
In recent weeks, Nurmagomedov has been exchanging barbs with Tony Ferguson, 2nd in the ranking. The two should have faced each other in April this year, in the main fight of the UFC Tampa, but an injury to the American prevented the clash from getting off the ground.
Khabib Nurmagomedov, 28 years old, has a perfect MMA record with 24 wins in 24 fights. In the UFC, he has already won seven victories, including three over Brazilian Gleison Tibau, Thiago tavares e Rafael dos Anjos. His most recent performance was about Michael Johnson at UFC 205 last November.
